Glossybox Uk~ March "Beauty Blossom"

Glossybox arrived on time, can i get a woop woop? GB have recently dropped Yodel (seriously they suck) for good old Royal Mail and it seems to have made all the difference already. The only difference is a £1 increase on the postage price due to Royal Mail charge which isn't something that bothers me. This months box is themed "Beauty Blossom" which seems to be geared toward putting a spring in your step.

Juicy Couture: Juicy La La Malibu and Juicy Couture Malibu

Perfume samples aren't the most popular items among us glossie's but I actually don't mind them. This month they have included two samples as one product. I have always had a love hate relationship with juicy fragrances as they are targeted at younger teenagers, most have that same sickly sweetness as many celebrity perfumes. These two samples appear to be summer (Malibu) variations of two of their popular fragrances Juicy La La and Juicy Couture. I tested out both scents and as expected they were both far to sweet to be pleasant. Although as the notes developed they both transformed into a more subtle floral scent one with mandarin tones and the other with jasmine. I'm still not keen on either but they are more pleasant than expected.

Dove Conditioning Shot

This is by far my least favourite product this month. I can't use this as its for damaged hair (which i don't have) and not for coloured hair. I also hate the smell of dove and the fact they still actively test on animals. I also think the price is quite steep for what you are getting. I can't give my review on its effectiveness because i'm not going to use it but it is the full sized tube and retails at £1.49

Bellapierre Cosmetics Ltd~ Shimmer Powder in Beige

I am a big fan of mineral makeup, it's so highly pigmented and long lasting, sure it is more expensive than your average shadow but the quality is worth it. The shade I received is an almost identical dupe for Micabella's shimmer powder in  beige. I had always assumed that these brands were sister companies due to their similarities but it seems they are not affiliated with each other. The product itself has a beautiful neutral shimmer perfect for a more natural spring look or that "barely there" makeup that is so in this season. This is a generous full sized product costing £12.99

Sleek Makeup~ Pout Polish in Bare Minimum

After receiving other sleek products I had mixed feelings about using this "cult beauty product". I was impressed that it has added spf15 and is supposed to be a moisturising treatment however this was all I liked. The balm has no pigmentation which makes me wonder why they bothered naming the shade i understand it is called bare minimum but its just clear. It also felt like a cheap nasty petroleum based balm, so I have no idea where they are getting this "cult beauty" tag from, and i have certainly never heard sleek recommended by any other bloggers. Poor choice glossybox. This is the full sized product costing £4.49

Mitchell & Peach Body Cream

I have enjoyed using Mitchell & peach in the past so I was happy to receive another lovely body cream. Mitchell & Peach are lavender growers who create lovely body creams and lotions with their produce. They seem to have created a scent that is just right (not heavy or old smelling) and the product has a luxurious feel to it. But as much as I love the product I couldn't justify spending £36 for a body cream unless it A) Made me loose weight or B) Made my skin look incredible... sorry

Overall this is an average box, i was most impressed by the Bellapierre powder although its not my ideal colour it's something i can use when i am going to work. I was also pleased to receive another Mitchell & Peach body cream but the other products were just wrong for me. This has made me wonder how hard is it to create a perfect beauty box? In my next post i will be creating my very own version of a Glossybox with the budget of £12.95 I am looking forward to the challenge.

Nails Of The Day~ Chanel in Vendetta and C&E in Mica

I got a little adventurous with today's design going for a two tone split nail. I achieved this by using some masking tape, i have previously tried to stripe directly onto the nail but it always ends in slanted lines. I used two of my favourite colours; the first is Chanels Le Vernis in shade 483 vendetta. Vendetta is the most perfect shade i could dream of, in normal light it looks black but when bright light hits it is transformed into a shimmery purple with blue undertones. The second polish is Crabtree and Evelyn in the shade Mica, Mica is a stunning silver grey shimmer which is perfect for adding class to any outfit.

Crabtree & Evelyn
I had no idea C&E made cosmetics, as far as i was concerned they sold overpriced hand creams and biscuits. I was pleased with the quality that they supplied for £6 (outlet price) and  the beautiful shimmers and effects of each polish on display. I wouldn't say this is prone to chipping but rubs of like more thick and gloopy nail colours often do.
Chanel
Usually when you purchase designer cosmetics you really are paying extra for the brand name rather than quality, i am so happy this isn't the case with vendetta. It dries super quickly and i have yet to have it chip on me (and i have been wearing this shade to death). Vendetta and other pretty shades are available for £18 in selected Boots and Debenhams stores.

February Favourites

I really can't believe this year is going by so quickly already goodbye February. February is my favourite month because i get to celebrate Santes Dwynwen Dydd (Saint Dwynwen's Day~ Basically the welsh valentine's day), Valentines Day and my birthday. Because of my lovely friends and family i have had lots of things to try out, cutting my list down to 5 items was challenging to say the least but here are my final five x

1. Treacle Moon~That Vanilla Moment: This month i have been rediscovering my love for long relaxing baths, anything sweet or spicy ticks my bath box checklist. That vanilla moment smells so yummy and sweet it even has a label warning me not to eat it (still tempting) plus it is cruelty free so you can really relax. I love to use this along with some cracked cinnamon sticks and slices of orange for an extra special bath. This is available at most Tesco stores for about £2.99 but i have seen it on offer at the bargain price of £1.99

2. Yankee Candle~Vanilla Chai: Another vanilla favourite, i love love love my chai tea especially vanilla chai so when i was gifted this by my handsome man i was over the moon. It smells exactly how it should, nice and spicy (think cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg) with the added sweetness of vanilla. I have always thought vanilla chai smelt
like Christmas in a cup so this is definitely a winter warming kind of scent. Like most yankee candles this scent comes in a variety of sizes from votives to large jars.

3. Primark Beauty~Natural Look Lashes: I am a big lover of lashes although i don't wear them as often as i would like to. These lashes are seriously good for the price, i can do 60+ on my motorbike and they stay put. Although i tend to use an eyelure glue as I'm not as the primark glue felt very thin to me. These certainly look natural (i was questioned about weather they were real a few times) and they feel natural too. At a £1 you can't go wrong, i have had 3 uses out of these already and they still look good. I'll be trying more styles on my next trip to the city.

4. Chanel LeVernis~#483 Vendetta: This was my birthday treat to myself, i love designer makeup but it's not something i indulge in very often. Honestly i picked this more for the colour than for the brand because it is perfection in a bottle. Once applied it looks like a high gloss black shade but the second the light hits it you can see the beautiful purple and little flecks of the shimmer particles. Compared to other varnishes it is more chip resistant and also dried very quickly. This is £18 a bottle though so it's definitely a treat rather than an everyday polish.

5. Nyx Eyeshadow~ Cryptonite: You have all heard me rave about this so i won't go on too much. It's dark and sparkly, just beautiful. This is my first Nyx product and i literally can't get enough, it's that perfect shadow for adding some extra glamour to a smokey eye. The shadows come in a range of interesting colours (some unusual ones too) and are priced at a reasonable £5 each.

Hwyl Fawr February and Shwmae to you March and the start of springtime. Hopefully there will be less rain this month and some of those beautiful days we had last year.(don't think there's much left up in those rain clouds). Speak again soon Luna x
